Our 2nd challenge is to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall in 2 weeks.
Hadrian's Wall was 80 Roman miles (73 statute miles or 120km). Running through the British countryside it is one of our most notable landmarks.
For the BeingBetter Team it represents team challenge number two. After conquering Mount Everest twice in a working week we decided to push ourselves a little harder. The 73 miles of Hadrians Wall translates into 256,960 steps in total. Two and a half times the challenge of Everest, our next task will see us attempt to walk the length of the wall in two working weeks, starting on Monday 14th March. Here we go again!
So how did we do?
With a total of 256,960 steps to walk the length of the wall, by the end of the first week we had done a combined total of 194,538 - we were already over half way! At the end of the second week, we had together done 349,603 steps, so we had walked the length of the wall and were already a third of the way back along it. A fantastic effort by all!
As with the Everest challenge, even though we didn't actually walk the wall, we have all enjoyed wearing our pedometers to see how many steps we have achieved each day whilst balancing our work and home lives. It has motivated us to build more walking into our day whether that means leaving the car at home or taking the dogs out every night! As a team we can say we all feel better for it.
Watch this space for our next challenge!.........
